yickdaz
had a look at an area that's been holding a big number of birds but they are flocking up and moving from stubble to stubble in flocks of between 2 and 4 hundred we were informed that they had been shot at the day before with non stop shooting, but there was that many flighting around on the wind knew we could get a few picked up on a flightline to a stubble off our boundary but some were making the trip out to our side, watched for 30 mins and came up with a plan to set up on the edge of a ditch as close to the choosen field they wanted and try pull some off the flightline, just as we were about to set up another shooter drove across the stubble behind us and got his gear out he was about to set up in the prime position, we set up and started to get birds flighting towards us but no matter what we tried they wouldn,t come into decoys and mostly not even near them they kept skirting wide and flashing past us at missile speed all afternoon, the guy behind us was shooting regulary until he suddenly packed up he drove past down the field track as we were only 60 yards from it and we had a quick chat turned out he only had 50 carts with him and got rid of them in no time( that's what you get for not having enough shells with you) and the birds were still flighting strong down the treeline and ditch over his position for the rest of our session, we were forced to take on very fast long crossers and high driven birds which I prefer to shoot at anyway with 3 right and lefts on a strong wind is my kind of shooting not one bird decoyed all afternoon, shot from 1pm till it all dried up at 4pm picked up 30 and 2 crows picked 1 of them
fenboy
Well done , pigeon are always tricky in a good wind. I cannot believe the amount of so called pigeon shooters that run out of cartridges , I never have less than 500 available , I take as many as I think I will need and leave the rest in the car . Then you suffered with the wind, to many Wigan pies with Gravy???? Thirty from great sporting shots is better that fifty hovering over the decoys. Well done , great day. aga man
As Underdog said no finer way to shoot pigeons than flighting them in the wind It's encouraging to see these big flocks of young birds about at the minute

Passionforangling
That's a great result, well done. It does seem strange that someone would go out with just 50 cartridges with them.
