Dodging the storm.

Underdog

Been working in the storm today, also driving down the M-way in it but as soon as I got in and got the stoves fired thoughts switched to a nice holly bush hide of mine that is sheltered from this wind some. Tia and me braved the heavy squalls and relaxed in comfort for over an hour.

We watched pheasants returning to roost and then a magpie landed near by and so the firelock was commissioned.

Fabulous spot Underdog :good: With all these new-fangled stealth nets, and the like, the art of sculpting a proper hide is fast being lost  I had a cracking spot, similar years ago in the centre of a rhododendron......twas perfect for this sort of weather :good:

B) They make a handy refuge sometimes too :good:

Yes bud its smooth bored and it's a beauty!made by bernardelli in the early 70s I think . Need to do my homework on it before I fire it I don't want to blow myself up as I've not a clue on what and how much powder to use and so on . need to get a black powder ticket as well . is there any good books out there you'd recommend for a complete BP newbie?

The traditional muzzleloadingforum has a wealth of info.

You won't blow it up. It will be fine on 3/4-7/8oz of shot and the sameVOLUME measure of powder. For a temp wad scrunch a 3" square of news paper up, same on top.

Medium to course powder will be fine.
