Hi all I would like to look into buying a hushpower and had the Baikal hushpower .410 a couple of years ago. I would like to buy another but am contemplating getting the 20 bore instead. It was a very handy gunbut after recently using a 20 bore iI would like the extra range. Has anyone had both? How much louder was the 20 bore than the .410

Many thanks for any info!

Reguardless of gauge. Reloading gets the best results no matter what.

If I was going to get one. It would be 12. Cook.

Mmm that's very interesting? Is it difficult to get into reloading and could a 12 bore me re loaded subsinic to be as quiet as a .410?

Got me quite exited there!

The 20 is a lot louder at night than the .410

I have just got in tonight from a trip out with my Baikal .410 and funny enough i was contemplating the very same thing on the way to my shoot . But no after reminding myself just how quite the .410 is

...i will stick with it . Up 30 yrds its such a capable little shell on bunnys .

What ever you get, reloading probably the way to go.

I'm sick and tired of people saying sub's are only good for a few yards.

In 12 20 you get maximum shotcount using 4 and 2 shot. Making it good for 30 yards and beyond. These sub's cost less than factory. There is no point bothering loading 6s. Its not even wasting my time.

Its just what you can live with. Most reloads come in at 180/k. But for the .410 that may be slightly higher. The .410 would be limited on shotsize. The 20 and 12 isn't.

Loaders cost 50£ for a Lee. But if the hushpower is to be used as a serious tool. Reloading makes economic and performance sense.

There are multiple threads on this. Read them

Yes 30 yards is all you need really under a lamp at night its easy enough work I have two hushpower's the original single shot Pedretti and the mossberg pump just love them when you get use to them 30 even 35 yards is manageable and clean kills to 3inch 7 way best shell in 410 I find

Cheers I'll keep my eye out for a second hand one locally.

is the pedretti version any quieter than the Baikal? And does it fit easily into the cabinate as my old hushpower Baikal needed to be on an angle to fit in.

Thank you all for your advice so far.

Dont know my cabinet is quite tall roughly 4ft8 tall and it fits in there easy the Pedretti have a longer moderator do do go back to breach where baikal starts from forend not suure if there any noise different in them but is really quite with 2'5inch cartridges and not to much louder with the 3inchers its the most used gun in the cabinet of the Pedretti is a folder action

Cheers I'm leaning more towards the pedretti than the baikal. I don't suppose anyone has either for sale around west yorkshire?
