'Closed' certificate

Recommended Posts

The caliber is 22-250. He would be going with someone who would be using a .243 on an 'open' ticket. Could he not go on the judgement of his colleague who would deem if the ground is suitable?

Only if the land has been approved by the police for that calibre

No simple as that you have got the land passed your self it does not mater about the other person with open ticket you have to ask land owner for permission and get it in writing then send to police for them to put on your licence.

He has permission off the land owner to use whatever caliber he wants.

No, the Police make that judgement, until his FAC has that condition removed. (its worth checking with the police to see if it has been surveyed in the past).

It matters not what the landowner has said, the land must have been surveyed and passed for said calibee or below, so if the land is passed for .243, your chum, with permission can shoot on the land with anything below that.

Nothing is 'put' on your licence which the poster has stated above, you have primary land, which is needed for the grant of the FAC, there is no list of land on the FAC that you can shoot over.

A closed (new-type) FAC states :

...shall be used for vermin control and zeroing on land deemed suitable by the chief officer of police for the area where the land is situated and over which the holder of this certificate has permission to shoot with this class of firearm from the person by whom the shooting rights are owned, leased or otherwise obtained. ...

Unless the shooting buddy is the chief officer of police, then he cannot shoot his rifle on there unless the land has been cleared. Full stop

So if my rifle is cleared for my land and I go to another farm which is cleared for my calibre im ok to shoot it as long as I inform the police first is that correct or do I need to do Another authority to shoot letter

Help yourself, if it's cleared for your calibre and you have permission, written or not, shoot on.

You don't need to inform the police.

Not quite as long as you know the land is passed for that calibre you can shoot on it if you have permission, you do mot have to notify the police and do not need an authority to shoot letter.

I think some people are missreading the title you can use your rifle on any land that has been passed for your calliber your mate who has got an open ticket he deems the land to be safe to shoot his rifle on he dosent need land to have been passed by the police but he cant deem the land safe for you to shoot on

I've never had any land put on my licence, from first grant or on any re-newals,

Not seen this (specific spots written down) for many years, checked is checked and territorial restrictions ended years back in my experience. No permission has to be written but it must be on their system as passed for that calibre, always check because the land here was once passed for .243 win but someone later put it on the system as .223 rem (most likely in error). Don't bother me but it might effect a guest of mine one day

you don't need it writing and it don't have to be put on your license

you just need land owners permission

I checked to see if a certain piece of land was passed for a 22-250, and was told that it had been passed for 243, so no problem.

Sorry to hijack this thread, so when you come to renew your FAC and you have /or hoping to get an open ticket, do you need land , like when you first apply for you FAC ?

you need a permission letter/slip or something to prove you still have need of license

same as when you 1st apply
