I had a call this morning from one of my Farmers stating that the crows are pulling up the sprouting barley. I gave him a ring back and asked how many, he said hundreds. So after doing my daily deeds I arrived at the field at 10.00 the field had about fifty birds down so I drove to the tree I was going to shoot from and slid out of the Disco and managed to shoot two decoys. Set up the hide and moved the Disco back to the edge. I put the two birds thirty yards out to the left of the front of the hide, the wind was from the right rear. The first hour was slow with single birds coming mainly from the rear to the pattern , thats when I took the picture of the set up. After that they tended to come in pairs , and as I have stated before crow shooting to me is not easy , so it was shoot the first bird with confidence then let the second bird spook and take the second shot , do not rush the second shot as I would normally miss. The day started with a steady drizzle it then became light rain with mist. the decoys had to be shook the remove the rain and the shot birds put behind the tree were soaking by the end of the day. I managed to call three Magpies to within range . I finished shooting at 16.00 and picked up one hundred and six Crows and Jackdaws and the three Magpies. I text a picture to the farmer and he was over the moon with the result , so that should get me some pigeon shooting in the future.

Another good result, well done! You did well to be shooting until 4.00pm.......it was getting rather dark and very wet here at that time today!

It was not that dark as you can see from the picture, I did use flash . The rain had stopped for a short time and the sky started to brighten as the sun went below the horizon.
