bigbird
I took the little black and white bitch I advertised here: http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/297195-black-and-white-springer-bitch-12-months/ to the shoot on Saturday and blow me, she only hunted like a little Trojan beating and even picked her first bird! She was even quite sociable with all the other people and dogs - she wouldn't even walk past them by herself last time I took her. She only legged it to the pickup once and that was towards the end of the day when I think it was all getting a little bit too much for her so I put her away. Thrilled to bits considering two days before I thought I'd never be able to do anything with her, so chuffed I even had a tear or two in my eye I'm trying not to get too excited about possibly eventually trialling her...but....you never know..... Anyway, not going to rush her so we'll see what happens :) Sorry to blather on but I just can't believe it!! loriusgarrulus
Brilliant. I am so pleased for you. We have had a number of rehomes over the years and they all vary over how they mature and settle down. Although she is not strictly speaking a rehome she has gone through the same procedure. beeredup
thats good news theres probably a very brave hard hitting little dog in there trying to find her way out in to the daylight its just gonna take some reassurance and patience to tease it out of her

WGD
Is she only a year old Ali?
bigbird
Yes, just over. I don't as a rule take them working on the shoot at that age, it was more of a socialisation exercise than anything else but I figured as she was having such a good time it couldn't hurt. She hasn't started any formal training as yet. PS Many congrats for the other day Edited November 5, 2014 by bigbird
WGD
Cheers, distant memory now! Lol. At that age plenty time for her to come good, I would personally be a bit wary of inadvertent "pressure" because of shoot day environment but you know the dog in front of you better than anyone at the end of a keyboard. bigbird
Don't worry, there'll be no pressure to 'perform' I'm taking her and my other 'remedial' dog next time to alternate - could be interesting lol
shoot and be safe
She did well for you last week Ally. She's is a lovely little dog and was a lot more social/confident around the other dogs and guns. Take it your keeping her for gundog training now instead of a pet Ps, I've got the kids money from last week.
bigbird
Ahh thanks lovely Yeah I'll give her a season just bobbling on the shoot as it seems to be what floats her boat then maybe start proper training after that x You can give the kids' money to me, they've not mentioned it LOL
