are you going thro a quiet period at the moment ?

No, i'm going through a 'not too fussed' period at the moment. I know pigeon shooting can be a lot more tricky at this time of year, and that's why I generally do less of it. If a good looking situation arises, however, then the decoys will come out again.

A lot of people on here who shoot pigeons in the off season are involved in game shoots and wildfowling this time of the year and with a lot of the land out of commission due to game shooting pigeons take a back seat until the Rape start getting there attention , with the amount of Rape grown now we don't get to much of a problem from pigeon damage till at least mid to late January and sometimes none at all . And by then the game and wildfowling season is just about over and the decoys and the rest of the gear come back out of hibernation .

Just got back from a 3 hour session decoying over maize stubbles been loads of pigeons and crows on it all week set up at 1finished at 4. Had five shots got 2 pigeons completely deserted can't understand it can't find birds anywhere today not even small packs. Very frustrating

Get used to it, unless you are in Norfolk, that seems to be the norm!!

drove 75 miles today touring our land, saw some flocks of 100 and 200 birds on stubbles and in the air in the distance but no flightlines and they just moved off in one flock to the trees and other fields never to come back so ended up with an hours roost shooting all the birds were either stuffed with old barley but mainly hawthorn berries
