Hi Beesley121, I used to run a bank of these pluckers when I was a game dealer and had spare heads for them soaking in what was called 'Duck Oil', a very fine viscosity oil to lubricate the brown inserts. The shafts used to wear a grove in them after about 1000 birds and I had replacements ready, but then I was processing around 7-8 thousand pheasants a month. You will also need a load of spare plates and rivets as these wear very quickly. As for the ducks, take off what you can with the machine, hand pull around the wings and then use a blowlamp. If your flush then invest in a hot wax machine with a recycling facility, that does the job. I can still smell the burning feathers now!
