chris31
I'm looking at an early model bas lightning with view to buy it, it's the first model, 10inch ish barrel big silencer on it, maxi grip scope rail, etc, are they any good as a mid range hunting rifle, I've heard rumours years ago they were only around 10ft lbs. People's views and opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
rabbiter
I had one, only kept it around 6 weeks,it was a bit of a scope rattler, hell of a kick for an air rifle, very twangy and couldn't get decent groups with it,thats just the one I had though, maybe better reviews coming along soon,i just didn't like it at all..... brett1985
Ive had 2 early brum made ones and they were great. the newer xl tactical i had was at the complete other end of the scale though. really bad. a qucik drop in tune kit helped alot, as did polishing the piston and honing the cylinder. all of mine had accounted for many squirrels and rabbits before i let them go. if its an early one, it should be ok. oh, and out to 25 yards, 10ftlb is still more than enough to cleanly kill most vermin. hope this helps. Deano 1
Many years ago I had an old one, I refurbed it and fitted a gas ram from Blackpool air rifles, it was bang on with power and accuracy and the gas ram calmed the "kick" down, so the scope lasted longer. That rifle is still going today.

mickyh
I got one a few years ago as part of a deal, I'd always liked them. Just love the look of them. And was getting bored with my PCP. I couldn't get rid quick enough! Dreadful thing, would not group at all kicked like a mule. I ended up using it as a part ex against an AYA No 4 so at least I didn't loose out.
