A dog that went missing from its home in York two weeks ago has been found safe and well in Watford.

Tia, a Springer Spaniel, was found in the town - 200 miles away from home - and her owner has no idea how she got here.

Well worth having done.

Friend found his red flatcoat retriever because it was chipped. It went missing from his smallholding while he was out and turned up at a vets 40 miles away 4mths later.

Vet was suspicious as it was booked in as a red setter, the new owner couldn't get her to eat properly and she was emaciated. and decided he didn't want a big vets bill so surrendered her fortunatley.

Vet scanned her and contacted the registry to find she was reported missing, possibly stolen. The new owner was a lorry driver that went near my mates house, but he claimed he had bought her in a pub, so nothing could be proved.

The reason she wasn't eating was because her sister a black flatcoat was still on my mates farm and they had never been apart for 7 years. She soon started eating again once she got home. :)

I read the other day that a patent has been filed in the States for a chip with build in gps, and it is still extremely small. The company are saying "missing pets could be a thing of the past". It seems all you would need is a computer or smart phone to pin point where the animal should be.

I would pay the extra with in reason for the security of my dogs.

Found an un chipped dog the other day and handed over to the dog warden. The owner didn't get in touch to thank us for taking it out the road and for ensuring its safety but did bitch and moan that it was going to cost it to get it back! If you value you're animal then chip it!
