hoggysreels
In the not to distant future l intend on buying from the military surplus supplier, some boots. I was wondering if there are those that have owned Altberg defender and the Haix boots ? These are apparently ex-army issue. Both l think l'm right in saying are gortex. My main requirement to that they are "waterproof" .. nothing last forever, but if some on here have had both types of boots, and could suggest which as proved the most resiliant to the dreaded water ingress issue, l'd be grateful of your recommendation ... l would be wearing them for a few hours at a time, but l wont be trekking vast distances with them. Their trekking ability is secondary. Just cant decided which ones to get, probably next month .. both incidently are the same price ... atb
Sussexboy
I have the Royal Marine cold weather boots, made by Lowa I believe. They are thermal lined(or so it seems), goretex membrane, vibram sole and being brand new, extremely rigid but loosening up with each wear. I am really quite happy with them, especially as I only paid £50. These are high leg boots though, that does not suit everybody.

Sussexboy
I bought them at a small surplus store in Hastings last week. They are issued but totally unworn. I actually managed to drive in them this evening so they are getting softer.
