Broken Maxus

Does anyone know where I can get a new gas piston spring for a Browning Maxus?

Mine broke today whilst out roughshooting so I had to cycle it manually.

The spring is now in 4 parts so it went with a good pop! For some reason, the manual says 'do not remove the spring' but mine needs replacing.

Does anyone keep them on the shelf? and is this a common problem?

Hi

Pretty sure I noted Nordic Components or similar awhile back for (aftermarket) replacement when this problem arose with others Maxus's.

Might be worth a search on here, SD or tinternet..........mine yet to fail but you never know.........

Cheers

Hi

Perhaps you will post who you find does replacements - for those of us whose Maxus is yet to cause an issue please?

Drilling around in Google there are US companies that are providers but want the gas piston assembly sent to them for about 200US - might be worth seeing what you make of it?

Others US side replace some otherway......

Will do, thankfully I am not stuck so can look around without panicking. The good old Mirouku saves the day ......

I do love the Maxus as a really good all round gun......

I googled and found this,

https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufacturers/Browning-33164/Shotguns-35562/Maxus-40789.htm?page=4

part key:75

International Orders: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Foreign-Orders.htm

I'm sure that you can find an equipped gunsmith around. Also I have seen a homemade tool to change that spring. A long bolt, a couple nuts and washers :) A really very simple tool. Unfortunatly can not remember the link or key words. Anyway, I mean consider it done.

What kind of blooming spring are we talking felers :-/.

This is indeed the part if it fits the piston for the 3.5 inch chamber version maxus. A short fat coil spring that can break into 4 !!!!!

Yep a big one.

You can get a sealed piston too. If you don't shoot big loads it may be the answer.

I hear browning fattened up the spring so it can take more abuse.

mine is (was) the newer brown spring... i thought this was the beefed up version but seems it either isn't or the newer version is also brittle. I have only put 70mm shells through it and up to 35gram loads. Nothing big.

Why not just measure its diameter, wire thickness and length? Lot of springs available. Its not rocket science fellers!

U.

If someone can tell me the length that is a top idea
