kapow
I went out with intentions of gertting a 3-9x40/44 scope. At present I am do plinking and targets at 25y indoor,45y outdoor in future. The guy in the shop said I should go with a 10x40,he is proberly right and knows far more than me but he did not explain very clearly why. Can anyone explain why one is used over the other? FalconFN
I think your first thoughts are right as 3-9 mag covers most situations. If you want slightly better light gathering go for a 3-9 x 50. A fixed x10 scope has a very limited use, but if I had to have a fixed mag it would have something like 6x50. evo
very good advice from Falconfn, 3x9x50 is perfect for air rifle ranges and rimfire and also very good in low light, also another good idea is to get one with an AO atb Evo

Because he had one in stock he wanted to shift! 10x40 is a limited use target scope pure and simple, how can it be ideal at both 25 and 45 yards!?
