Strange times on the marsh these last weeks.

Over low tide while putting out the decoys on a few occasions, even through the day, had loads of groups of birds flying over me perfectly shootable. Unfortunately at this time my gun is on the bank in it's slip.

However when the tide starts to creep in, the birds disappear, i guess to go sit on the main river.

I am guessing this is due to the still days and warm weather or maybe the birds are getting cleverer and know that stuck in mud with handfulls of decoys you are no danger to them?

Anyway, I cannot wait for some wind and ice....

the ducks like to dabble in the margins for food items with some clear areas around them so they can see anything coming, low tides concentrate food in a small area so its easier to find in shallow water..... as the tide rises it can push them off and split them up into small groups that go looking for another spot as the high tide makes for deeper water and its harder to find food
