DEADLY PLUMBER
Is lead shot a health risk to my dog if ingested from eating meat from shot birds and rabbits. When prepping pigeon I very rarely find shot. But with rabbits it's a different matter I do find some shot. If eaten will it pass through or possibly lead poison my dog. ?? Fal
I think it will pass through quick enough before doing any damage, I think the issue ducks gets is because they hold it in their gizzard to break things down so it is in them for a very long time, long enough for the lead to have an effect. I am not 100% though, so don't take that as set in stone. Personally I would try and avoid any lead shot going near my dog, but mine doesn't get raw. DEADLY PLUMBER
Hi Fal. Thanks for your reply. I don't give him the meat raw I cook it then dice it and mix it with his Kibble. He loves it. With rabbits I think I will get some steel carts. ATB. DP

lee-kinsman
No. In my opinion there is more risk from ingesting ferrous metals because they rust.
