How did you chaps learn the trade?

Id love to get into it as a few days a year game shooting wont satisfy me.

Trouble is all the guys i know are into game or clay, nobody is into pigeon shooting on the fields so i cant ask them. Tje fields around my are often busy with them so i know i can gwt land easily enough.

Advice?

Hi mate i taught my self most of my pigeon shooting i started by shooting pigeons on flight lines heading back to roost and just picking up on the way they fly and behave with winds and weather then tried my hand at decoying for the first time which was entertaining :) but they say you learn from your mistakes so i must of made quite a few in my time haha

BASC are running two course's in February.

One on the 21st at the A1 Shooting Ground BorehamWood North London

The second on the 22nd at Sporting Targets Risely Bedford.

There will be another on 24th January of which I will post full details in a short while.

All the information can be found on the BASC Website

Here is the information

Edited to provide a link to all 3 scheduled days.

If you would like a course in your area, either contact BASC or drop me a pm and I will see if I can get something arranged for you, 15 people are normally required to make the day viable..

I was self taugtht but i am still learning now 30 odd years later.

It is much easier nowdays with all the shooting magazines , books , and DVDs / videos that are available .

The basics are not difficult , find a field with lots of pigeon on , knock on the owners door , obtain permission , set up hide , put out decoys facing more or less into the wind in the area most pigeons are crossing or going to and shoot any that come near enough
