Testing X2

Good evening guys

Just thought I would pop on to say I have finally found time to have a little play with the Daystate X2 I recently bought although it was a quick few shots the length of the back garden it was enough to convince me that what you guys have said about these guns is all true!!

Loaded up the gun with some jsb's I had laying around, stuck the cheap Simmons scope on that come with the rifle, took aim on the dot I made on some A4 card and walop. . Pellet slammed just half a centimetre high of the dot, thats without even zeroing in the rifle so thought well I will just settle for this to test accuracy!

Five shots later and pretty much all in the same hole, convinced it would of been pellet on pellet but im a little rusty as I ain't shot for a good few months now!

Thats enough to make me want to now spend some money on this beastie Treat it to a nice new Mamba lite 3x12x44 which can surely only improve this gun, then loose the synthetic stock and drop on a thumbholed walnut jobbie to make it pretty

Trouble is its made my Bsa R10 look like it struggles to be as accurate and has left me wanting the Daystate Air Ranger even more now if this X2 is anything to go by and I will state that I really do love my R10 guys

Its a funny thing with the daystates.. I never really liked them! I don't know why but now having shot one ive changed my options but I do have to say im not a fan of the hole electronic and digital display side as I like my guns to be mechanical..

All seems to take away the mechanics to me and correct me if im wrong guys but I don't think the air ranger is treated with all them gizmos?

Can't wait to spend some time down the allotments giving this gun a challenge

to be honest with ya mate , you sound exactly the same as i did 2 years ago but my eyes have been well and truelly opened since,

firstly one thing i have found is that the people whom slag off daystate are people who have not normally owned one or even shot one for that matter, i must add NOT ALL of them but a very large majority,

2 years ago i owned a Air Arms s410 carbine, to me after using a springer this was sheer heaven to shoot, it was accurate as hell and accounted for many vermin and rabbits but all i kept hearing was "how good the Daystate Huntsman Classic was". after reading review after review and actually going out of my way to find one i could shoot, i was instantly hooked, the difference in the huntsman to the s410 was unreal, everything about the gun was SMOOTH it was very very accurate, nice to hold and shoulder, light and to top it off very good looking but most importantly it shot exactly where you pointed it out to 50yrds,

now after owning the huntsman all i read was how good the Airwolf was and that the CDT was better than the newer MCT , review after review was written about them both so after a while i bought the Daystate Airwolf CDT, now this is all electronic but without the screen, my god what a difference that was compared to the huntsman classic, the gun was a dream to shoot and effortless and with 300+ shots per charge what more could you wish for,,the gun was a real killing tool and probably so far the most accurate gun i have ever shot, the groups where amazingly tight time and time again and it was electronic, I was fast becoming a Daystate Fan,,Both guns had performed superb, both had been totally faultless and BOTH where accurate as you could get,

Then out came the wolverine b , so i read all the reviews about that and decided to change calibre and go for a .177, well blow me how bloody good was the Wolverine,,unreal out to 55yrds and it seemed like i couldn,t miss, again this gun was faultless and very smooth to shoot but a full mechanical rifle, I was that impressed with the wolverine b that i,ve now bought the Wolverine c but in .22 and at first i did not like looks of the wolverine c but it gradually grew on me, this as i said i got in .22 so i now have the best of both worlds with both wolverines,

all i can say is dont knock it until you have tried the electronic daystates you will be surprised just how good they are

Firstly Evo im not speaking to you after your lovely lady has played Santa and bought you a dam fine toy for Christmas :) nah only pulling your leg.. you enjoy it buddy, bet you can't wait for that one on Christmas day :)

To be fair mate your right I am open to anything these days and as said think im joining the Daystate camp more everyday!

Its just considering this X2 is a 2006 gun and my Mk2 R10 is younger im blown away by how good it shoots, really is a gem the only one thing I could quibble about is the lack of a air gauge but that's about it!

Really think im going to try and save up for the Air Ranger in the new year but my other half is not as understanding as yours Evo me old fruit :)

Lack of air gauge. Learn to count! After you have shot 10 magazines of pellets. Try refilling it (yours is .22 I got 70 shots from a .177 version).

They really are as good as claimed aren't they? Where in the country are you? We might be able to suggest a nice local accredited service agent to keep your maintenance costs down a bit!

Only thing I really do not like about the Daystate is the rear bolt. I prefer side bolts...

Hello Mr mole :)

Im in Harlow in Essex buddy and hey I really couldn't agree with you more.. I love side bolts too, so much more a natural position for the hand etc but seems like all the guns I like never have I side bolt :(

That was one thing that was pointing me to he Rolex was nice smooth side bolt action..

To be fair Hoggy I would still love to give the R8 a go as I have found out you can replace the plastic jobbie trigger for a metal affair which ive got to say is a major put off for me :(

I think im going to wait for them to work the fields for a while and see what folks are saying about them after some time!

Accuracy wise I bet your bang on there probably is not much difference in them both.. and I really was about to buy the R8 but when I offered £280 for the Daystate and the guy excepted, it was to good of deal to let slip :)

Really wanted to get down the allotmens to have a proper test of the X2 but alas ive got to go Christmas shopping!

I like side bolt ... having a Walther Rotex R8 must make you Daystate nancy boys envious ... ;)

I'd like to have an accuracy test Daystate vs R8 (.22 adults calibre) .. l'd put 50p up that the R8 equals it ...

Not really I have a Bowketted Super 10 and a Rapid Mk 1!
