johnphilip
You never right on your own cert, other people do if they sell you a gun,if you have sent of paperwork thats all you need to do when you renew your cert the guns will come of then. sitsinhedges
Only the new owners certificate has an entry put on it. You just make a note of their details to pass on to the firearms department but don't enter them on to your certificate.

Sian
Er the person you share it with! you never write on your cert when you sell the gun just stays on the cert till you renew. This is interesting because when I spoke to the Firearms people about putting my husband's guns on my certificate as well as his they said we had to write in and I would have to send my licence in as well. HDAV
Depends on the area but your husband can write it on to your cert as "lent" SGC (FAC is different but only as far as needing a slot) with SGC some don't like them being on the certs of people who live at the same address, as 72 hour rule applies, others like them to be on everyones cert at the address. robbiep
North Wales seem to be one of the areas where they like them being on one certificate, if possible - my wife and I were told that as we are sharing a gun cabinet, there is a tacit understanding that we are happy for each to borrow the other person's shotgun, and as long as that is for less than 72 hours, no paperwork is involved. That is correct. If you have more than one person sharing a cabinet all guns should be on both certificates. I have two sons and all our guns are on all our certificates. Think about it. It cannot work any other way.

In truth none of are so well informed as yet no one has put there hands up to working in a firearms department... It is all a best guess as all the licencing departments have a different way of working.... One fact is the 72 hour rule, there are lots of variants on security as well.... birdsallpl
I don't think I'm best guessing. Is it true that only the licensed gun owner should have access to their guns? General question for PW members
