Thanks fellers.

The camera was favoring iso3200 and 1600.

Am sure it is making the shots grainy or noisy I believe is the term.

This Cannon 1200d seems a little like hard work.

In the good old days a films iso was dictated by your choice and the camera worked around that! These things are too smart, well for me any way!

Don't put yourself down, they're nice pics. :good:

I'll make a couple of assumptions if I may?

They're heavily cropped pics (which will accentuate any visible noise)?

They were taken on a dull day with flat lighting?

You were using the long end of a kit lens (200/250mm)? Probably with the maximum aperture of about f5.6?

Do you know what shutter speed you were using for those shots?

What mode were you using to shoot in?

Out of curiosity UD, do you have a smart phone? If so you can download canon's 1200d app for free.

I've done it for mine it's great tell you what you wanna know about the camera just a thought :)

Good pictures too mate :)

Done that mate but I found it a bit basic.

Its me I think. Below average IQ, impatience and long sighted!

If you use an apeture favouring setting or if you are static on the bird feeder full manual i'm sure you will be able to select a lower ISO. By the sounds of it, if you could only get 500 or so at 3200 it was quite dark and you were probably going to struggle either way.
