fat_jay
Hi all, Looking to get air rifle to control vermin in the backgarden and around farm buildings.Any pointers what to buy would be great. Not got a lot to spend and definitely don't mind second hand, doesn't have to be pretty just functional. Thanks in advance Jay
manthing
An idea of budget would be good but, A 2nd hand springer would be a good starting weihrauchs, air arms or an old brummie made BSA. Some would say a heathen ****** copy of a good gun if you really don't care what it is. Imo a good quality 2nd hand gun will always be better than a cheapster copy. fat_jay
Thanks, I would say up to about £150, it's not going to get a massive amount of use so not looking to spend too much.
robbiep
Weihrauch HW77K. They've been around for years (I recently sold one that is nearly 30 yrs old, and they're still making them). Bombproof, high quality. Heavy, though.
fenboy
I would agree a HW springer would be the way to go , take your pick from the 90, 80 , 95 , 77 or 97 all good guns but it may take a while for one to come in at your budget , they do turn up from time to time. secretagentmole
Secondhand you are going to be limited. How about a nice Webley Stingray Mk 2 instead? Cant afford one at £220? How about one at £130 then? Made by the same factory, same action, trigger but different stock. The Hatsan 55 or 60 (55 is .177 and 60 is .22). These guns are great value, walnut stock, great barrel, good spring, nice 2 stage trigger, auto safety and anti bear trap and you can shoot it straight out of the box as it has fibre optic sights! Go and have a word with Philip Webster! He sells them at great prices if you are Norwich way. If Lynn way try St Clement Guns!
fat_jay
Brilliant, thanks for the advice, the hatsan looks just the job for occasional use, will get one after Christmas Thanks again Jay
steve_b_wales
Take a look at the Hatsan Striker S1000. An excellent air rifle for the money. http://www.gunmart.net/gun_review/hatsan_striker_1000
secretagentmole
The two gun dealers I would recommend in Norfolk are Philip Webster and St Clement guns. These sellers will look after you not milk you!
