countryman
I have a very nice Apex Guerini which i manly use for Clays, it has some reach for the sky 32 inch Barrels with extended chokes which are great for clays, however i would like to get some shorter Barrels, say 28 inch if i can for some game shooting and walked up, would the gun need to go off to Gunsmith to fit, has any one done the same. Thanks Chris
vmaxphil
Probably easier to get another gun
countryman
Yes true the cost of doing this will not be cheap and another gun as you say would be an easy option, but this gun will all ways have a space in my collection and out of all the shotguns i have had over the years this one to me is the best by far. button
I had an CG may be two years ago, that had 28 inch barrels and I wanted 32, I contacted CG UK and they quoted me £800 including new case to hold both pairs, never did it but I thought it was quite reasonable
sishyplops
That sounds very reasonable indeed
rwade545
Have you thought of non extended chokes? Will be nearly an inch shorter with internal chokes instead of extended?
farmer7
I enquired with Guerini UK about a new set of barrels for a summit a few weeks back and they said they do have to be fitted. I cant quite remember the price now but was certainly significantly over £1000, I think it was around £1400. And no mention of a case either! countryman
I have sent them an Email so i should know if it can be done and how much, if it was £1400 i would say that was a bit steep and probably not for me, the £800 would be more in keeping with the price of the gun, i suppose they can charge whatever they want but there new Guns are very well priced for what you get. MattSoanes
I purchased a new Guerini Maxum 20b today, the guy in the shop was telling me about the interchangeable barrels, he then proceeded to take the barrels off a 28b model they had in stock and they fitted straight onto mine. He said including a forend would be about £1000. Edited December 23, 2014 by MattSoanes
figgy
For not much more you could buy a very nice 28bore
bostonmick
The barrels from the same make will fit on however this does not mean they fit.also the electors need setting.unless the bloke in the shop is a fully qualified gunsmith and has fully checked and adjusted them i would be very wary. I didn't buy them, and I never intend too, I was just saying that they fitted straight onto my gun. Which I must say, is the nicest gun I've ever owned. HDAV
Try asking dennis @ UK gun repairs they are a CG dealer and proper gun smith. There may be a less expensive way to add a set of tubes.... The 4" shorter tubes will change the handling though! ChrisAsh
As they are all made by computer controlled machinery so doubt there is any reason for any simular make of barrel not to fit any block, maybe a slight amount of fine filling of the pins. After all they are all made seperatly and it would be stupid and poor design if they were all hand fitted to each gun

bostonmick
From my own personal experience. Two 687eell both 30 inch yet they do not fit the other.also my dt10 and are both the same barrels yet again do not simply just interchange. Even the forends are different.my opinion for what its worth is if you want to have a second set for a favourite gun buy a complete gun and get the barrels set for your gun.As when it comes that you want to sell you will not recoup the cost of the barrels.also if you find the new barrels do not suit you it is easier to find. Buyer for a gun rather than just barrels. Atb
