Blackpowder
This weekend someone told me that peta had a blog of some sort going protesting about sheep being sheared. I've googled it and found the site but it wont open for me. Any one else on here aware of this nonsense. Blackpowder
islandgun
Just had a look, same nonsense, sheep can be hurt whilst shearing, Iv'e been shearing for 35yrs, accidents happen, sheep must be sheared otherwise their coat will become too long the sheep will fall on its back and will have its eyes and other soft bits eaten by birds, half the worlds starving get on their case ! grrclark
I saw a bit on the news about it and they were complaining that sheep getting nipped by the shearing machine and being wrangled by the shearer all amount to systemic cruelty. I didn't hear what their alternative suggestion to shearing was to prevent the circumstance IG highlighted.

I would have thought that even to the dimmest animal rights weirdos it would be obvious that shearing sheep is very much an animal welfare issue. scotslad
I know they got 'mulesing' lambs out in OZ banned recently, it actually was quite horrific but was for welfare grounds too I've never heard how the OZ merino sheep are doing since the ban, possibly losing a few more to fly strike. They are a bunch of nutters thou

They are a bunch of nutters thou I worked in a shearing gang in oz in the 80's but didnt see mulesing carried out, we did a lot of crutching though, although mankind is capable of any amount of cruelty fly strike is horrendous, seeing maggots eating through the flesh of a living thing is beyond unpleasant
johnphilip
Seeing a sheep that has got hung up in brambles and died a slow death. Or to see them in the field with half the fleeze hanging of and getting caught up on something.

islandgun
fly strike on sheep, this happens when sheep get s####t stuck on their wool, blow flies lay eggs and maggots eat into flesh, Ive seen internal organs exposed, we get a few like this every summer, In oz this happens quite a lot, un -shorn sheep are very prone to falling over and not being able to get up, losing their eyes and other soft bits to to ravens, hoodie crows, blackback gulls etc, I feel sorry for sheep but lifes a bitch, there is a breed of sheep that is self shedding but kiss goodbye to your woolly jumper
grrclark
Probably dip all the sheep in Immac!! Going a bit off topic here, but one of the guys I used to work with mistook his girlfriends Immac for shaving cream on a particularly hungover morning. Instead of just washing it off with plenty water when he realised he thought he would just shave it off quickly. His face looked like he had shaved with a blow torch

loriusgarrulus
I always like to ask PETA supporters what they think happens to all the animals they rescue, cos they don't rehome them all do theyThey don't rehome the ones that get willed to them for rehoming with a legacy. Most get put down instead of found new homes. There is a Daily Mail article that states 95% of animals they get are put down. Sorry can't paste a link as on my android at the moment.
