hoggysreels
My Combro 625 mk4 arrived today .. so thought l'd give my RM8 (.22) a check. I'd read a fellow PW member had taken ownership of his RM 8 "unsure of calibre?" and to his surprise it was knocking out circa 10 ft lb .. so thought l'd give mine a go.... Lowest figure 11.4ft lb Highest figure 11.7ft lb Will retest and get more familiar with the combo Edited January 9, 2015 by hoggysreels
mickmck
Picking my r8 up in the morning. I've asked for it to be crhrono tested so will see what it leaves the shop at . what pellets do you find best for the Walter hoggys?
hoggysreels
Mine is .22 ... l've an allergy to .177 JSB Exacts 15.9g RWS Super- H - Point 14.2g Air Arms Field 16g Bisley Long Range. 14g
mickmck
Yes mine is 22 also . witch do you prefer out of them pellets . for accuracy. Cheers mick
hoggysreels
Suppose if l could only have one selection of the above, it would be JSB Exacts 15.9g The RWS H points surprises me. I thought after 25 yards they would be all over the place .. l find them accurate out to 40 yards .. that said the Bisley are uber performers. Wasp unfortunately performed poorly .. Acuppels, again worse than anticipated .. BSA Elite 15.34g are well worth having for pottering about ...

hoggysreels
So looks like AA field are the best . I'll get some of the . how are you finding the shot count ? Not sure the best Mick .. the Bisley's were very accurate indeed .. l'd suggest the RM8's Lothar Walther barrel isn't overly pellet fussy. Shot count in honesty, l can't reliably say. I have shot down to 70 bar. Walther claim 180 .. all l can say is l've never shot the bottle empty in a day. Of late l've only been topping up to ~ 195 bar Ive never sussed out posting photos on here, doubt l ever will .. mine is fully kitted out now ..Moderator, Scope, IR T20, NV kit, buddy bottle clamp with bipod and shoulder strap. I'd prefer the setup to be all round that bit lighter. When perched statically firing whilst using the bipod, that weight is a bonus, when traipsing over a ploughed field and its pi$$ing down, the thought of me having given the weight a bit more consideration has entered into my head. Its been totally reliable and is a solid old unit. Can see in the coming years it will have quite a following ..
mickmck
I agree about the weight . I could do with a sling . I've got a mod on but not happy with the length it makes the gun . next time I fill up I'll do a shot count
hoggysreels
The mod l fitted is the Deben Whisker 180 ... wouldn't be out of place at the head of the 17th & 21st Lancers charge .. anyhow, it certainly quietened the R8 down, so all is well me thinks .. hoggysreels
Get your use out of it Mick ... a sling will help when your out lumping it around .. l dont mind wearing things out, just hate storing stuff and never getting the full use out of it, having spent out on it in the first place ... l got a bottle clamp for the bipod/sling mount. There is a youtube video and a fella has drilled the fore end of the stock. There is a raised bracing type piece of the stock just in front of the pressure gauge, he drilled there. I decided to go along the route of the bottle clamp .. reckon either way is okay. He made a good job of drilling his. secretagentmole
My replacement RM8 was received today. It is making 10.7 ft lb with Ogives so I am happy about that. Got to test accuracy and zero the scope in. It is much better than the R8 I had! The cocking is much smoother and the trigger seems better too!
