Ludicrous Lumens built T67 vs NM800

I bought a T67 after reading they are 'as good if not better' then the NM X Searcher, first time out with it I compered it against my friends NM800 and the T67 didn't come close so I am baffled how they can say its as good as the X Searcher?

On tight beam the 'square' is half the size if the NM.

As you start to twist the body to go to 'flood setting' the light strength seems to fade to a light glow that does not illuminate much at all.

I thought this would be because the T67 uses inferior internals but have also read that the T67 and Nm use the same internals.

Has anyone else compered the two torches together?

I have just had a very speedy reply from Ludicrous Lumens, very good customer service to say the least :good: even though it wasn't really the answer I wanted it is an honest answer that has cleared up a few myths that I have read on other peoples reviews.

Ll's reply :

Hi john

They don't share any of the same components to the nm800 range apart form the led itself. (Depending on colour not all are like for like)

A t67 when focused correctly is tighter and brighter compaired to a nm800.

The smaller the aspheric the generally better it will be when flooded so bigger the lens the worse they seem to be when you open them up!

Check the quality of the batteries you are using.

If your batteries are good and it's really dim you may have a blown driver if the batteries have gone in the wrong way round they often have significant drop in power yet still work.

They are however a cheap torch compaired to a nm800

If you have your store order number ill be happy to test the insert for amperage.
Regards Andy

And another reply (within 10 minutes) I have to say I am impressed with them (Andy).

Hi John

Basically the larger the aspheric the smaller the emitted image!
so a t67 is great for taking the shot and not great for finding anything!

t50 is is the nearest to nm800 as has the same size lens!

T67 is nearest to a Xsearcher and share the same strengths & weakness

Kind regards Andy

I have just taken delivery of my T67 and have to agree with your initial comments. One of the guys I regularly shoot with has the X Searcher and it ****** all of the T67 in a massive way. I have a ebay red LED torch which cost £17 if memory serves me right and is also better and has no aspherical, just a smooth reflector.

Utterly disappointed!!!

I shall be seeking a refund i think.

I opted for the t50 and I was reasonably impressed with the torch all in for the price. As at the end of the day you get what you pay for.

And at £50 for the whole kit with 2 batts, charger an tail switch and mount,

I won't cry too much if I loose it whilst out in the dark.

As always it's a blance between cost and performance.

I have a T67 and the NM800,although the T67 is an impressive torch for the price (by the way your all getting ripped off paying £50 plus) it is way too big to be mounting on a rifle. It must weigh 4 if not 5 time the weight of the NM.

How does your T67 compere to your NM800 then Dave? Any links to a cheaper supplier?

Just to add and I only found this out last night, my T67 has 3 modes, it was sold to me as a single mode, I guess when I compered it I could of been using one of the lower res settings?? I will be getting a T50 IR for when I build my own NV using your instructions mate.

Hi mate,i cant realy compaire them as they are no where near the same unit on size alone. The T67 is a monster of torch. It has an impressive beam wich is nearly there with the NM(standard not x searcher) but its the size and weight of the T67 its just not practical for mounting(my opinion). For the price i got my T67 is a steal (not a fan of the T20)

The T67 are £26 direct from china with free delivery, that is for a white led though.

The issue with the T67 as i can see happening is all the people who sell them will start slagging each other off ,with accusations of cheap drivers/led's anything to get trade. This happened with the T20's.So either import in yourself or get a NM800.
