umney531
Hi just wonderd how you stand if you book a hotel for a shooting weekend away how do you store the guns if you go out at night for a meal or a drink do you have to split the gun say keep the stock in the car and barrels in the hotel room just thought about this as last year we just put them under the beds but dident leave the room any help please
shaun4860
I normally strip them down ie put the barrels in a separate place from the stock, I know of people that leave the whole gun locked in the car but I've never been a fan of that
Scully
Can you ask at reception for a room safe, in which to lock the fore-end? If not, I would do as Shaun suggests, above.
dougall
if its a shooting hotel often have gunsafes. If not they often have policy of no guns in rooms. In latter case I leave bits locked in motor case in car and take 1 part into hotel room.As long as whole gun not left in car I believe you have taken ''reasonable precautions''. Richie10
Never been to a hotel or holiday home where they insist on locking up the guns, always just had them in the room. Most of the ones I go to are out of the way though.
robbiep
As others have said, I split the gun up. Stock in hotel room, barrels in car, fore end usually in rucksack with me. You are responsible for taking 'reasonable precautions' to prevent the theft of your gun. Exactly how you go about it is up to you.
Spud dog
I was recommended by fire arms officer to keep split, have stock in the room as they are the most important, ie firing bit. And barrels in the car. Due care shown and taken.
silver pigeon 3
Split the gun components up is the way I would go, a mate takes a cable type bike lock with him and locks the stock through the trigger guard to a fixed item in the room (radiator pipes etc)
brett1985
just to mirror the above comments. i quite often will buy a couple of doer-uppers when im away on training courses so staying in a hotel. i leave the barrels in the car, stock and action in my suitcase and if there is a safe in the room i will put the forends in there. have spoken about this with my local FO and that is more than satisfactory in her opinion.
