The op wants to shoot them not mince them!! 24g 7.5 steels are more than adequate.

Dont be daft , anybody knows that 7.5s are only suitable for geese up to 20,000 feet above that you need the higher energy of the bigger pellet .

But what I cannot understand is how the hell do you see their eyes at 23,000 feet, to be able to get the shot off ?

I bow to your superior knowledge sir, I assumed the mighty 7.5 was suitable for all ranges, I knew not of the fact it ran out of energy over 20,000 feet. I agree seeing the eyes at this range may cause problems, no doubt some of our more qualified members will be along shortly to advise on how we deal with exactly this situation!

It's well known that the air is thinner so your average wildfowler can see eyes at these distances 😊

However one must bear in mind lead and speed of shot

Morning flight only as speed of shot over the distance on a clean kill means that your quarry should hit the ground at about lunch time 😀😃

All the best

I wouldnt worry to much about seeing the eyes' if you can make out the black bars then you should be good to go.

Islandgun has the right idea.If you can to get to the top of the mountain' then i wouldnt worry about Shot size. A well aimed snowball "Say Golf ball size" should do the job and if you pack a parachute and time it right you should be able to retrieve your bird on the way Down and land Safely. There is always ways and means of dealing with them Rangey birds.

I would say you would need at least 28 grams of No4 steel.
