Dekers
I went for the 10/22 as it is fun to use a semi auto and .22lr is the only caliber to offer this. I would buy a well modded 10/22, it will shoot as well as an out the box bolt action rifle but be a bit more fun to use. Get a bolt action in the HMR or CF caliber instead as you don't have the choice of semi auto in them. .22WMR is also available semi, not just LR! Brad93
I've got a CZ 455 Laminate Thumbhole .22 and it is deadly accurate with the heavy barrel. Cloverleaf groups at 80 yards with Winchester subs. Haven't had it out recently but won't ever get rid.
roostshooter1
Yes i have used a brno mod 2e and found it a good working tool at reasonable rangez but my choice over the 2 would be a cz with hogback stock and a 20 inch barrel as ive seen the tight groups this gun shoots out to very good ranges but i found a sako finnfire hunter in 10 out of 10 condition for really good money so thought id take another step up the ladder
snow white
You can change barrels on cz 455 from 22 to 17 hmr save lot of space in cabinet
colin lad
You can change barrels on cz 455 from 22 to 17 hmr save lot of space in cabinet do you find you have to change or re zero scope when you change barrels ?? colin
rjimmer
Are BRNO weapons still made? I thought the factory, which is in BRNO, changed the name to CZ.
Brad93
You'll need to re zero as the 17 has a completely different trajectory to a
Blunderbuss
Are BRNO weapons still made? I thought the factory, which is in BRNO, changed the name to CZ. No they are not and yes they did. Plenty about second hand though for very few beer tokens. IMHO they are incredible value for money. There is nothing a modern CZ can do that a BRNO can't as long as you're not bothered about fripperies like thumbhole stocks etc.

If I recall correctly it cost me well shy of two hundred sheets and it gets more use than anything else in the cabinet.
welshwarrior
I love my BRNO light accurate and reliable, what more do you need in a bunny gun I've had some lovely expensive 22s none killed better none more reliable, yes some where more fun on a range but not hunting guns. islandgun
Excellent advice, and good reading thanks everyone, and a convincing yes for BRNO. Talking to my local gunshop and on the web there seems plenty of of semi auto's, are these to be recommended or do they have problems compared to the bolt action ? cheers IG
MAB1954
Just my opinion but if its just for rabbits I would go for a CZ/BRNO bolt action with a moderator. Bolt actions fire an ammo you put in them, a semi auto may not.

moose man
Had a Bruno for years & for some strange reason on a whim I changed it for a 10/22 ..this was not a good move , a year or so later the 10/22 has gone , a cz is now back in the cabinet ..reliability & accuracy has also returned .. Thanks for that, everyone I did wonder about the semi auto, Following all the advice I have my eye on a BRNO bolt action with moderator and 15inch barrel, and match it with a Nikon field master 3-9x50 scope from another shop, I will post a photo when I can, cheers IG
Uncle Albert
You won't go far wrong with a CZ 452 or 455. With the 455 you can get the 177 barrel and mag. This will allow you to change from .22lr to .177 HMR. Bolt action all the way. My CZ455 in .22lr shoots sweet as a nut and has done right from the start.
