well guys as some of you know I,d been waiting for the new daystate to come out to buy one and to my shock horror it was the Pulsar Bullpup, not for me sorry,

so I decided to spoil myself with another rifle, now as I,ve been very impressed with my Daystate Airwolf CDT in .22 , I decided to go for a new Daystate Airwolf Tactical in .177 which will be solely used with my nightvision kits for my night time shooting which is probably 98% of my air rifle shooting,

I have always wanted a Airwolf MCT and thought that the tactical would suit the shooting I,m doing, don't get me wrong but I love walnut on my daystates but this is solely a WORKING TOOL for pest control of a night,

well she has just arrived this morning and WOW she is stunning, heres a couple of pics,

as you can see she,s a stunner,,well I,m off now to fit the scope and get it zero,d in to 40yrds and have a play and see what pellets she likes eating

will post a few pics up later once she is fully built

cant get the smile off my face because these rats and rabbits will hate her

Very nice bud !

Defiantely give some of the 7.9gn blue tin AA Express ago !

cheers matt, got some on order mate, just fitted the scope and spent 10 mins zeroing the rifle in with FTT.s

shooting really well and considering I,ve only just got the rifle pretty pleased how well she is grouping, I,ve put the chrono on it and is producing 11.0ftlb so its a bit low but nothing to be concerned about,

it feels superb to shoulder and the rubberised stock makes the rifle stick in your hands, feels strange but in a nice way lol,

its had the rowan engineering match trigger fitted and have to say it is as light as a feather and very very easy to use but as ever I,ll make a few minor adjustments to get the gun running exactly how I want it before I take it out in the field,

studs are next to be fitted and shooting strap also bi pod and after a couple of trips out she,ll be ready to sort the vermin out,

so far my overall impression is,,, seems accurate ,great to shoulder but I will be changing the scope to a panorama EV so I can use the NV on it aswell,

wont be able to sleep tonight ha ha,

Timmy you are correct sir,,but its usually for the free servicing that they offer :lol:

Mole,,totally agree bud,,i just don't get on with the new pulsar,,certainly a daystate I wont be buying,,,,,,,,,,, unless I get it very very very cheap

Lovely rifle there Bob ... looks the perfect "night rifle" ... if l come up trumps on the lottery l'd consider getting one for "night shooting"- you know me though, .22 stalwart, nothing will alter that. By the time l sussed out all the technology, l'd be in another season, let alone be quick enough to hit the Rabbit/Rat ...And secondly, l don't do the lottery .. so the future regards getting one is bleak ..

It's the very best of the budget for my ailr rifling, though l get premier satisfaction.

Look forward to having a go of it Bob. Can understand why you were looking forward too it's arrival ... let us know what it crono's at !

its the perfect tool for the night shooting we do pete,

oly fired 50 shots through it so far but its grouping fine, and put 10 shots over the chrono, lowest was 10.98 and highest 11.07 so its floating around the 11 ftlb mark, slightly low to how I like them but not a problem,

you can try it next time we are out pete, the rubber stock is great to hold as your hands stick to it like **** to a blanket :lol:

Bob, Is that using Biz Mags ?

Even so its plenty to kill qurry out to a darn good distance !

My MK4 loves the Blue AA and I can only ope yours will too. Ironically the next most accurate pellet i found was the H&N Barracuda but they were fairly loopy.

Matt

no matt I,ve only put the field target trophy,s through it, I,m using the barracuda match through the wolverine b mate and they are proper tight groups and superb to 40 yrds but drop quickly after that,

looking forward to trying out some pellets 2moro through it to see what groups best, through my .22 airwolf it loves jsb exact,s but when I tried them in the .177 b they did not group well,,,strange I know

Very nice, sure it will keep you quiet for a while

I doubt it mate :lol:

Nice bit of kit Bob. Though I'm not overly fussed on the tactical style on airguns bud. More of a traditionalist wood man where somethings are concerned, can beat a nice bit of wood lol.

I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun with it though bud

Gareth

have to agree Gareth, much prefer wood myself, but I was waiting for the new daystate and when that pulsar thing arrived I was gutted so decided to get the tactical mate to use solely for the night time shooting,

spent some time with it today and the rowan engineering match trigger is superb, rifle is shooting spot on with the Barracuda match pellets and have to say I,m very impressed with the accuracy,

power is floating around the 11.2/3 ftlb but it is as quiet as a mouse ****, will take it out this week on the rats and see how it shapes up, hope its as good as my wolverine b because I just cant miss with that thing,,

hows your wolverine been shaping up mate ?

Yep Bob that pulsar was a big let down in my opinion and Defo not worth the 2k price tag they want for it. I think it was made aiming towards the American market as they love bull pup rifles.

To be honest Bob I ain't had time over last couple of weeks to really get out with it. I'm on late shift in work and by time I get in, most of the time I ain't got enough daylight to get out with it. Plus I've been busy with other things in between which as you know is always the same when you want to do other more enjoyable things such as shooting.

So unfortunately bud I ain't got a lot to report about the Wolverine since the last pm I sent you. Not for the lack of enthusiasm but just ain't had the time to get out an shoot due to one thing or other.

I've got a few different makes of slugs here now, some bought, some generously given to me by a member of this forum and another member from a different hunting forum I'm on.

So when I get time, I'll take a couple of hours putting some shot strings together and see the results between them. Hopefully this weekend.

I,ve put the chrono on it and is producing 11.0ftlb so its a bit low but nothing to be concerned about,

Come on Bob, what's that all about :hmm: Its an MCT, Map compensated technology, ie programmable, so no excuse. Don't get me wrong, I love my Airwolf MCT FAC, and its a devastatingly accurate rifle, but why is it Daystate can't get this power thing right? There's a thread on that airgun site running at the moment. Makes weird reading  Remember when you took your Huntsman (I think it was?) up there and they told you it was your chrono that was wrong? Seems everyones chrono is wrong including RFD's :hmm:

That aside, even low on power, you'll love the Airwolf MCT. Its still my favoured tool in the cabinet, over the shotguns, and the rimfires :good:

have to be honest I cant understand why daystate are sending rifles out from the factory running around the 10.5ftlb and even at a peak they only reach 11ftlb if your lucky,as you say it is map so why they cant be checked to run at 11.8ftlb is beyond me,

what has surprised me is today I thought I would do a test with some pellets, here are the results ,all shots where taken with a 170bar start and a 20 shot string,

using H&N FTT 8.64gr over 20 shots the rifle averaged 11,16ftlb

using H&N barracuda Hunter 10.34gr over 20 shots the rifle averaged 10.84ftlb

using H&N barracuda Match 10.65gr over 20 shots the rifle averaged 10.78ftlb

now don't get me wrong the rifle was filled to 170bar before every new pellet test even though it has a swp of 200bar, this is too low(the power output) when you consider as said the rifle is map (map concentrated technology) so why are daystate sending out rifles with a low ftlb when the legal limit is 12ftlb,,

people will say its because with a heavier pellet the ftlb will increase, well it has the exact opposite effect with a heavier pellet the power of the rifle gets lower with a heavier pellet, and for a rifle costing £1700+ when you add the scope ,bipod, match trigger, strap etc I think daystate need to get this sorted,

don't get me wrong the rifle is shooting excellent groups out to 45yrds and is whisper silent BUT the power should be higher, ok 1ftlb is not a lot but at range it does and can make a difference, this is not the first time I have received a rifle from daystate which is running low power, now my wolverine b is averaging 11.76ftlb with barracuda match and I have done a full tank with tests .the rifle is louder than the mct but certainly performs how it should and also produces very tight groups to 45yrds,

I think a phone call to daystate in the morning will be happening,,cant fault the rifle at all except for the power being low, so I,m happy with it except for the power output, and why does it drop when using heavier pellets yet my wolverine b increases when using heavier pellets,,,,strange but true

I wish mine still looked like that :( but even my beat up old one looks better then the new Pulser lol had a little play at the shooting show cheap at £1800 pound though lol

that's one daystate I,ll never own,,well not unless someone gives me it for free and even then I,ll flog it and get a ranger
