FAC pellets in 22 ?

people tend to go with the heavier pellet just because its FAC,, jsb exacts 15.89gr are superb in fac rifles and also give a very flat trajectory, used them in a huntsman 30ftlb with devastating results,

to be honest how long is a piece of string ??? what might work in one might not in another but the JSB,s really are superb , if you don't like the sound of the 15.89gr then give the jsb jumbo,s 18.13gr a try, used them in a fac ranger and all I can say is everything they hit did not move afterwards, very accurate pellet with a bit more weight,

what rifle is it by the way

As said above, try 16grn & 18grn JSB/AA.

If you want heavies go H&N Barracuda which are Bisley Magnums but they are sorted by head size!

have to say Matt, I,ve been very impressed with the barracuda match in the airwolf and the wolverine b,, they grouped very well indeed and even in the wind out performed every other pellet, only problem using them in the wolf was the power dropped slightly

I've tried bismags, aa fields, and h&n baracuda extreem, and at 50 yards 2.5/2.5/1.5" groups respectively. Think ill be trying some other brands. Thought the huntsman at 40lb should shoot a hell of a lot better than that!

its a renowned FACT that the Huntsman performs at its best running at 30ftlb,,might be worth considering :good:

I use Bisley mags in mine...36ftlbs. Being an MCT, I can switch the power to 27ft/lbs. I've tried JSB Heavy5.52 and AA field plus heavy 5.52. Neither will group well with mine at 36ftlbs. so I stick with the Bis Mags that are very good. On the lower power setting, the JSB's just didn't group well, the AA's were a huge amount better. .

Matt,

Can you expand on the Barracudas? I have several tins of the Bisley Magnums. All have a sticker on the back say Barracuda. Interestingly, of the tins of Bis Mags, one is a screw tin. It says made in Germany for bisley. They weigh 20.5 grains on average. The other tin is a push together. It says on the front, made in Germany for John Rothery. These weigh 21.4 on average, and are much more consistent in weight. They are also seem to be a lot more accurate in my Airwolf than the ones made for Bisley :hmm:

I don't have anything as high as 40ft lb and apparently things can change a bit when you get over 30ft lb.

Mine works a treat running at around 26ft lb with AA Field and Bisley Magnum.

As is so often the case, I guess you need to try a few to get the best combination for your requirements!

:good:

The only pellets I found accurate at 40lb were DaeSung(now unavailable AFAIK,Bisley Mags or Barracuda Match which seemed more accurate than the Bis Mags.As has been mentioned, pellet choice at 30ft/lb is much greater and I found JSB's at 30 as effective as Barracudas at 40.

I have a air wolf mvt fully adjustable you are reading to much into foot lbs what you need to look at is fps feet per second and keep the pellet below the speed of sound. as pellets become unstable near the speed of sound which is 1125 fps by using a air arms 16 grain pellet at 920 fps it equates roughly to 30 foot pounds a 21 grain bismag at 920 roughly equates to 40 foot pounds each have the same trajectory as each other both in pellet drop and distance by using the 16 grain pellet at 40 foot pound you are putting the pellet far to near the speed of sound and therefore making it unstable and losing accuracy at 40foot pound you have to use the heavier pellet....I personally prefers the 30 lb using the are arms as it does not waste as much air trajectory is the same and there is not much difrance in the hitting power I switch to magnums and up the power if there is alot of wind as the heavier pellet does not deviate as much
