John Macnab Lowlander - What's it worth???

I took a punt on an O&U without seeing it as my shooting buddies kept telling me I was a ***** (wont let me use the actual word) for using and Winchester SXP pump. This was compounded by looks and sniggering at clay shoots.

When I took it out of the slip, I was pleasantly surprised with the look and condition of it (albeit being stored for 4 years with dirty barrels).

The Shotgun is a John Macnab, 30" sporter, single trigger, selective, auto safety, ejector, fixed 1/4 and 3/4 chokes in very tidy condition.

Anyone got any ideas on its value?

I'm new to shotgun'n and would like to get my eye in, but if it doesn't fit me, then I may part-ex it, hence the valuation.

Thanks in advance.

I think they were made by Rizinni so a lot less than what you paid.

I had the Highlander side plate in 20 and 12 bore.

I still have the 12 bore but when I disposed of the 20 I was very disappointed indeed.

So I am sorry to say, whilst a very nice gun, you won't get more than £500 for it.

Luckily I only paid £150 for it. Sounds like a bargain to me then 😃

I wouldn't normally buy a gun without seeing it but for that price, I thought it was worth a punt.

Why was there an assumption of what I paid by the way?

Thanks for your responses. Most helpful.

I would say you had a bargain there , do a search on some sites you will be surprised how much they go for, estimates of £300 are far lower than prices I have seen them at , saw one fetch £300 in an auction and was bought by a rfd end of 2014 . .

Lots were sold when Patrick Keen sold them , now marketed by Cheshire Gun Room , parts are available but need hand finishing /fitting, so repairs can be expensive (labour costs) Looked after they are good value for money, but they do not stand up to hard work , lack of care and abuse. Bit like women really.
