Snow, hail, strong winds and a few pigeons

Recommended Posts

Out again today with two more members and what a rough day it turned out to be.

On the way to meet up on the Yorkshire wolds it was snowing and blowing a blizzard.

Not to be deterred we went for a look round to see if anything was about .

Nothing was flying and we decided that the best option was to try and find somewhere sheltered to set up.

There was no other alternative due to the bad weather.

We set up at the end of a wood with a maize strip off it and set the brollys up for extra protection from the biting wind.

During the lulls in the snow and hail showers and at times near gale force winds pigeons would start to appear.

They are still flocked up and watching them they seem to be doing circuits of the surrounding farms.

They were also flying high due to the strong wind

We did manage to get a few to take a look at the decoys as they came past in the flocks.

Hard shooting today but a lot of fun and a good day out even though it was back to wearing gloves.

We finished with 17 wood pigeon,5 ferals and two rooks.
