4x4 MPG

When we move in the next few weeks we will need to run 2 cars as we will be "in the sticks" I would like another 4x4 having previously owned an old lwb vitara 1.6 which was brilliant and a grand vitara 2.6 which was also very good but very thirsty!

Only looking to spend about £3000 max and would like to see a reasonable return MPG wise as it will need to do the odd 50 mile round trip to work and back.

What kind of returns do you fellas get and on what vehicles?

Had thought about a rav, it won't need to do any "proper" off roading, so maybe a softroader would be a better option.

with your budget definitely, either a rav or an x trail will get you the mix of economy and still be able to do farm tracks and a little rough.

My L200 does 32 or thereabouts my other halfs rav 36-40 but she does drive it like she stole it

Checked the computer on my Navara and its registering at 38.8mpg at the moment :good:

Mine says more or less the same at 70mph!! Is this right? Are these on board computers accurate?

I've often wondered?? if I brim it it does about 400-450 miles per full tank, that is as long as the lead boot doesn't get used

Some trip computers are good, some just lie!!

I have a Seat Altea FR 170BHP diesel,

Went on a run to Risley (down south)

Brimmed it before leaving and got there, trip said I was getting 45mpg,

Didn't believe it so brimmed it again and worked the numbers,

Real figure was 54mpg which is more realistic,

Used to reset the comp every time I put diesel in,

After that I now don't use it.

As an aside, I've had 2 xtrails,

112bhp & 136bhp

112 did 35ish round the doors and 45ish on a run

136 did 29ish and 39ish

:shaun:

Doesn't sound right, my Navara (61 plate) showed 31 mpg and did nearly 500 miles per tank.
