Thinking about booking a shooting holiday to Scotland next January! A bit of wild fowling and rough shooting, and inland duck shooting on fighting ponds. Has any body got any advice or experience around these parts ie what company others have used and had a good experience with? I've been looking at solway shooting holidays on the solway firth. This is the area I'm looking southern Scotland. Would love to try Orkney one day for the geese but this 1st time I would like to try a little nearer to home. Any advice or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks all

David Virtue is on theshootingshow.tv all the time and his guided days look the nuts. Never been but when I get a chance to I think it's he that I will book with. Think his website is dvsporting.co.uk

Just looked at his website, he seems to prefer groups of 4+ i would put my name down for some pigeon, goose/duck, walked up rough shooting next winter if anyone wanted to make up a group

Ii am looking to find a guide that can help in taking my son husband and father in law onto the soleway for 3 days shooting . They are already keen wildfowlers and shoot the dovey estuary and are members of a wildfowling club in that area . They have always wanted to do this and the last three months I have come up against a few brick walls . If there is anyone that can help me then I would be appreciated.  We r also looking for a lodge, cottage ,house we can rent for 7 people and 5 dogs as we are a group of three family's.  I really would like to make this reality as I have just lost my dad and this may be my husbands last chance to get his dad shooting in Scotland.  Thank you

Looking at one weeks accommodation and three days at least shooting . Jan 2020

Not sure if you are on FB but if so i would join the Duck and Goose shooting Scotland page and put a post up with what you are looking for.

Loads of outstanding folk on there and will help to sift through the less desirable, and with a whole year until you are looking to get on then hopefully you will get sorted.

You can get permits for the Caerlaverock Nature Reserve and the Merse controlled by Scottish Solway Wildfowlers. There are plenty of cottages in the Glencaple area just look on the web and at Caerlaverock Cottages. As they are experienced Fowler’s they will be able to look after themselves to a degree just need to look carefully at the permits for boundaries. I help steward Caerlaverock and we are all there to help.

If they need a guide contact The Nith Hotel for Gordon. Dave Campbell is also an excellent guide but not sure what he is doing next year. PM me if you need to go through anything.

That would be brilliant as I wanted to give my husband and his dad a last shoot before his dad stops wildfowling for good .he is now in his 70s . I regret losing this chance as lost my dad 1st Jan 2019 . I dont want Richard not to do this one thing as a good memory to hold on to forever . It would be my husband , son and grandad shooting . While myself mom in law and two friends are back k at lodge . The dogs are Springee x1 labrador x1 and 3 x working cocker spaniels . All family and very well behaved .

Richard his dad and our son shooting with there dogs in tow. They have been wildfowling together for 30 plus years ben is 18 and has been shooting since he was 10 years old .

Sounds like it would be a special moment for sure.

Inshore geese would be an easier get but sounds like the shore is preferred.
