hoggysreels
At my mates yesterday doing a bit of practice/zeroing etc ... the Walther R8 (.22) was initially zeroed at his practce range (41 yards) ... put various makes of pellets down the spout. Target looked like it has been shot with a .410 Pellets landing anywhere within the size of a saucer .. erratic summed up our efforts ... l'm not a "tinkerer" l'm an aim and shoot type; a wipe over, and back in the cabinet airgunner. Never cleaned the barrel since lve owned it. Its well looked after and sparringly lubricated, but barrel cleaning, no! Must have had a few thousand pellets down the spout and had gone right off the boil. So the barrel had a clean and its getting back to its normal self. I was surprised at how sudden the accuracy went. One moment accurate and constant, then buckshot standard ... lt wasn't because l couldn't be bothered, l look after my guns .. it was more l was under the impression they didn't need attention, barrel cleaning wise ... yea live and learn

hoggysreels
Lol ... with my eye sight l really need to consider a X 16 scope ... 41yards/46yards, all the yardage after 15 yards, is a blur ... its like seeing the world through a Lucozade wrapper .. evo
after it was cleaned pete the rifle shot very well mate, cloverleaf groups at 46yrds , I was surprised how it was performing at first so I knew something was wrong, most people do not clean their air rifle barrels, but when using different pellets I will always clean my barrels, one thing I have found is as soon as any rifle stops performing to the best of its capabilities then its time for a clean, its amazing just how instantly the gun will improve "which it did " and then shot excellent, so much so I was picking a pellet mark out and was spot on the mark with the next pellet,,lets not forget mate its a walther barrel,,might not be a match grade but it certainly shoots like one
hoggysreels
This afternoon put a dozen JSB'S "15.89g" pellets through the R8 and chroned them ... lowest was 11.53lb - highest 11.71lb Bisley L.R.G. pellets (14g) gives on average 10.9 lb output ... Reckon l'd put 3500 pellets down the spout in total .... so that might explain the crud coming out the barrel .. will adhere to a barrel cleaning regime in future .. every 1k pellets etc
