Whilst the removal men were removing I was quietly irritated that on my last day in the Cotswolds conditions for decoying were perfect. Noticing my distraction Lady jdog told me that I was being of no assistance whatsoever and that I should go shooting to get out from under her feet.

A second invitation was not necessary and I was out of the door in a flash. How many others would have been so magnanimous?

The beans drilled last week were my destination and there were a few on. However the field is difficult to shoot as it is very long and birds on the usual flight line never make it to the far end which would offer the advantages of both wind and sun from behind.

I set up therefore with minimal kit two fields away to intercept pigeons on their line up the escarpment. There was a good line elsewhere that I could see but I couldn't get birds off it. I contented myself with a weaker line and once I had a few dead birds out the rest decoyed well.

I picked 42 pigeons and was back in time to start scrubbing floors which was a fair penance for my afternoon of enjoyment.

Well mate I remember when you took time out from shooting to take lady dog to the doctors ( I think?) in the forester when it was snowy, as I said at the time invaluable brownie points.

Goes to show how a marriage is a partnership and works both ways. Good luck with your move hope you find some good shooting soon. :good:

I intend to go back when I can to shoot and I have one or two trusted lieutenants who will be keeping an eye out for me. Either that or shooting them all themselves whilst telling me that there is nothing about.

Now the mud is drying out, be afraid - Stevyg may be able to get across the fields !
