fruity
When you say the bore snake won't go down the barrel , is this because the weight attached is not heavy enough to go through ? If so just feed a piece of heavy fishing line or strimmer line down first to connect onto then pull through, couple of go,s and your done Edited April 12, 2015 by fruity

Same problem with a genuine Boresnake when the barrel is dirty after firing. Also, got some tetra spare brushes stamped 17 on the box but the swaging was nearer to .2. Useless. Went to Specialist Rifle Services (local RFDs only stock Tetra) for some good quality, reasonably priced Pro-Shot ones.
fieldwanderer
I guess it's always going to be a problem with the 17s. I already had a Parker hale one piece rod and brushes, jags, etc that I used for my air rifle (.177) and I really believe that's the way forward, but if you want to do it properly you need a bore guide too which can be tricky to find for rim fires. What I'm looking for at the moment though is a stiff cable/nylon pocket kit as recommended in the DSC manual but I can't see any that look reasonable quality without spending a lot (for what it is). joe soapy
The tetra rods are worse than rubbish, use a one piece rod with a jag with a slot . push rod through, add a tiny patch and pull rod back through.. A strimmer line with a modified end will work in the field
billytheghillie
anyone use Possum Hollow bore guides?
LeadWasp
I sometimes have trouble getting the boresnake weight down the bore. I find if I repeatedly 'dip' it gently it will work through.
