I packed up coarse fishing, and took up fly fishing.

Last week I was out looking for pigeon and was passing one of my favorate old tench fishing lakes

(Napton res)

So I called in to have a look, it bought back some good memory's of tench sessions that resulted in 80 to 100lb of tench ( no bull )

Being the impulsive person I am I have just been out to buy a rod and a few bits.

With this fine weather and tomorrows forecast as the warmest day of the year so far I'm off tench fishing

For the 1st time in over 20 yrs 👍

Tight lines?

I'll report back tomorrow

I had my favourite tench float, I wouldn't fish without it. It was plain simple black and white. Don't fish at all now, just move the tackle from one side of the shed to the other, I really need to let if go.

Tight line's and don't forget the cloth to wipe the slime off, its like snot lol.

Planning to head out after some tench when we finally get moved.....hemp,corn and cockles as bait, nothing better on a flat calm summers morning watching the patches of pinprick bubbles getting closer to your float! Magic! Have a great days angling, report back with pictures.....

Are Tench not a fish for a warm summer day? is it not a bit early for them as the water will still be cold!?

Yes

My thinking was the warm settled weather we have had for a week or two might have brought them on the feed?

The lake I was on is very deep ,10 to 12 ft just a rod and a half length out,

so maybe takes longer to warm up compared to a shallow one
