Just been reading a thread about springers, I might have the chance to sort a vermin problem out for work pigeons ,crows magpies ,rabbits all these are nesting and roaming free, being the worlds biggest company for wot we do they are looking into this before they give me a decision , they have been quoted 5 to 15 grand from vermin people I got the heads up as my manager knows Wots do, question is I can use the 22 rim fire 17 HMR for the rabbits no probs even though it is in an industrial estate the flying stuff will be shot off beams so air rifle it is , don't want to spend a fortune even though we do have 14 depots in England, ive had pcp air rifles just wondering wot you experts would go for and why

Thanks

I am in a simlar type of location with my work and its a massive site, how ever I will never use my rimmies on site as it just isnt safe.

This is where air-rifles excell and especally FAC Air, I us both my sub 12ftlb for in bildings, workshops and hangers aswell as court yards  Then my FAC .22 @ 30ftlb comes out for the bunnys etc outside as i reach out to 75yards at times. :good:

Rife recommendations are:

Springer (sub 12ftlb) : HW99s(SFS Imp), HW97(kt), HW95, HW77.

PCP sub 12ftlb: Daystate Huntsman Classic/MK4/Wolf/Air-ranger/Wolverine, BSA ultra/scorpian/R10/S10, AA S410, HW100.

PCP FAC: Daystate Huntsman Classic/MK4/Wolf/Air-ranger/Wolverine, BSA R10/S10, Theoben Rapid (if desperate).

:good:

If the bunnies are within 30yrds you're best off with sub 12ft lb for the lot. No need to go big when you dont necessarily need to

to.

Spot on advice here, any regular calibre in a power output of 10.5-11.8ftlb will take all leagal air rifle quarry to sensible range in good weather conditions. It`s only at distance and in wind that the FAC will ace things.

There is only one rifle you can use for your dilemma and that is an airwolf mvt FAC

It is fully adjustable for out doors you can set it at 920 fps using bisley mags that 40lb use the bus mags indoors at 501fps that's 12lb change the pellet to 16 grain at 501fps and that 8lb will adjust to 1200fps but the supersonic and the pellets become unstable the mvt is the gun I bought that I can use for rabbit at 70 yards then use in the barns for short rage rat superb accurate rifle

Interesting?Would guess 12ftlb the maximum that will be allowed in that environment? Please let us know how it goes?

See your point

The unit even though it's in an estate has very good back stops and would defo be able to use rim fire

Just waiting for a decision ,soon as I find out I'll buy some thing for the job in hand , cheers

A rimfire would be prone to ricochet though, where as a air rifle wouldnt be as susceptible to this. And as I said why go over board?

I use my AA S510 fac around buildings and in them as I can adjust the power from 6lb to 35lb.

I find this very useful as you don't need 2 guns.

You will always find that you see a long shot and have the 12lb and then a pigeon flys into a barn and you have your full power fac. Twist of a dial and done wether loaded or not.

Totally agree there is nothing better than a power adjustable FAC be it an mvt like mine an aa510 they are superb and adaptable for the type of shooting you need to do from barn to tree to long range adjust the power then fire
