After a long night on the foxes and rabbits and not getting home until 4.00am,we were out by 8.30am on the mooch for the pigeons. We covered a fair few miles and a number of farms, until we finally spotted about 70-80 pigeons on a bank of newly drilled barley.

We sat and watched for half an hour and decided to set up. Decoys out either side of the hide and magnet 15 yards out directly in front. Within minutes the pigeons were banging in. We split up about 4.00pm as some of the birds were flighting over further up the bank. We shot non-stop until 7.00pm.

Total - 208 pigeons and 2 jackdaws.

Picking up took over an hour and then drove to 3 farms filling up the fox bait stations.

What a fantastic day, hot lovely weather, nice wind and a bag to remember.

My ever faithful dog "Munty". Still mad keen, (13 years old) thousands of pigeons later. (part bag)

The only dog I know that stops for a "P" or a dump mid-retrieve. BUT never lets go of the bird. ****.
