springer pup biting

I've got a 12 week old springer dog and all he want to do is bite in play. laces, shoes, the wife's dressing gown and my hands and feet. don't want to chastise him as both traing books I've got say it's a bit early. I'm not to botherd about it but wouldn't like it to effect his training later on.

do I let him crack on as he isn't doing any damage or do I need to stop this now?

this is normal for a pup this age. If he was still with his brothers and sisters they would play fight, biting each other, and if too rough they would yelp, they have tougher skin than us and razors for teeth at that age. When he gets you or your patner just yelp as if his siblings would, either a loud ouch or even a mimic yelp. High pitch like it would be if he had done it to his brothers and sisters.. He will then learn that he isnto rough. Dont play tug with him either. It will make him hard mouthed.

But as richie has said, he is a pup so dont be to hard on him.

My springer was a nightmare, nipping small holes in clothes when walking past and chewing hands and drawing blood.

They have to learn bite inhibition there is loads of info in the net about it, we tried the yelp when they bite too hard and ignore it for a while but it's no quick fix, it takes weeks.

Just being a pup

Edited to say, I will get an older dog next, part or fully trained, pups are a PITA

Its just being a pup pal. He will grow out of it.

If it persist when in another 2months then you need to get him out of it by either scruffing him and a little gentle shake while growling at him leave him no fuss.

Or divert his attention from you onto something fun like rolling a ball across the floor

Last resort and it has worked for me on my lab she was a nightmare for nipping your feet and non of the above worked so i gentle bit her back on the ear not to hard just enough for a little yelp as i said its not pleasant and is a last resort for me.
