They have found them!

The peas that is!. I found a good 100+ feeding on the peas this evening for the first time this year.

More birds were joining and it looks promising for a session.

Having said that they appeared like this year only to vanish again a day or two later.

Here's hoping.

I have on my perm several acres of peas, and they are not a problem this year I wonder with the perfect growing weather they are not as tender as when they grow a bit slower, As jdog pointed out they are well on and could out grow minor pigeon attention, maybe a bit of rain forecast at the weekend will change things.

I doubt this is the case. I expect the peas in general will get plenty of attention when all of the other options are exhausted. Give it a month and see what happens.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just shot a bag of 300 birds on chick weed and clover

This is a thread started by aga man about seeing pigeons on peas. If you have been out and shot a decent bag on clover and chick weed or whatever then why not start a thread about it and tell the expectant PW members all about your day?

Well for those wondering i can tell you, i certainly didn't shoot 300 on that pea field. Infact i have yet to set up there!, for what ever reason the pigeons vacated the peas the following day and returned mostly to various areas of patchy rape, along with clover on sports pitches, horse paddocks etc.

Michael, i sincerley hope you did shoot a bag of that size but like others i am sceptical, Its not the first time we have heard of a superb bag from yourself with very little in the way of a good report/write up here on PW.

Being from Yorkshire myself i am particularly interested in your success as my Gamedealer spoke only last week of very few real good bags taken in, even over the drilling period.

Prove us all wrong and write up a decent report fella :good:

Like others, I am also sceptical of this claim.

If I had shot that number there would be photos to prove it as none of my shooting friends would have believed me without such evidence.

Also, my local game dealer and most other pigeon shooters in the area would very quickly become aware of such a feat.

Let's see some evidence or just dismiss this as sheer fantasy.
