Hi after some riding around and talking to the locals I have managed to get myself 2 fields of peas to shoot .

I have a hide and some decoys and I'm going to make myself a bouncer tomorrow. Both fields have bushes and a tree or 2 to hide in but I'm abit of a novice and could do with some help. What pattern should I use how many etc etc

when I was shown the field there was some pigeons near one side would they be tempted accross or should I setup where I saw them. I was told that crows have been seen there too

Thanks jay

As above, try and recce the field. Have your lunch real there, just suss it out. Do they drop on from a favourite sitty tree, or flightline from nearby woods? Were do they go to, etc etc

Depending on the size of field, bangers might make them leave you alone all together. Plastic bag on a bean pole could be enough though to keep them off an area.

Pattern wise, u shaped, or a couple of random patches. Make sure there is enough room for them to be really happy to land in, in not too high vegetation. Try and have your decoys roughly facing the wind, and put your bouncers downwind 30-50 mtrs. Move stuff about if your not getting them to commit.

That's about where my knowledge ends as I'm pretty much a beginner still too.

Have fun!

u shape pattern, set up one side, put string of bangers on other side

I wouldn't contemplate putting bangers onto a field unless I was pretty certain that pigeons were going to go somewhere other than the pattern. I think it is a waste of time on smallish fields.

Jay, try working things out for yourself. You may be surprised how well you do, by just going in blind and learning from your mistakes or success.

Jay welldone on getting the ok to go, i think patterns are worried about to much sometimes. Mine dont even look like a pattern at times but its what works on the day. With experience you will learn to no what works when or how to change it around to work. With regards to your hide i personally think to better your chances on the day go were the pigeons want to be. If theres no bushes or trees dont worry pigeons wont take any notice of your hide as long as your still.

Well we went out today and had 3 and a half hours not many pigeons but managed to bag 6 crows and a single pigeon ... Missed a few shots between us tho.

I am quiet happy as it hopefully can only get better :)
