welshwarrior Posted April 25, 2015 Report Share Posted April 25, 2015 Not as easy to change as a Sako quad, I wouldn't think it's an act of war if you regularly want to change the barrel maybe ok if you want 22 for winter and hmr for the harvest period, not for hmr day 22 night though. Les*1066 Posted April 25, 2015 Report Share Posted April 25, 2015 It's easy enough to change the barrel on the CZ455, but it does involve removing the action from the stock as well as the two grubscrews that hold the barrel. Although perhaps not absolutely necessary, it really needs a torque wrench/screwdriver to to the job "properly". Like the other's have said, it's probably best to get one of each calibre. If you go for the cz455 the synthetic american go for 325 in hmr And sportsman have 22lr barrels. Not seen hmr barrels separately or anywhere else. I would seriously think of having two rifles. Dekers Posted April 28, 2015 Report Share Posted April 28, 2015 From my general understanding even Quad owners tend to buy 1 rifle 1 calibre, very few are swapping barrels on a regular basis. The 455 was never actually designed to be a Quad type, it simply happens that the manufacturing process makes this possible. It is a more involved process than the Quad and whilst some will most definitely find the Quad/455 calibre changing ability useful it really hasn't caught on. Mate had the Sako Quad and eventually got rid and went back to having two dedicated rifles instead. Said it was too much faffing about. Andy RV Posted April 28, 2015 Report Share Posted April 28, 2015 I saw a 455 today in a laminate thumbhole stock with a fluted heavy barrel that would put an AW 338 to shame Tell me about it, I've got the varmint and the barrel is far too heavy.
