I wouldn't use them. Useless from what I've seen.

yep. Waste of time and money. Buy shooting insurance cover online and spend the rest on more ammo and go shooting.

There's always a few people with really huge chips on their shoulders ...

Seems to be in vogue to bash BASC on here at the moment but there is still no organisation I would rather have behind me if the **** ever hit the fan .

I have yet to see any of the others offering cover on here , helping people out and giving shooting opportunities to PW members .

To PW members or Basc members?

BASC often don't stand up when it counts.

I queried them when after having a FAC for 5 years , 3 of which were mentored , the police demanded I also have a new mentorship condition added on for deer stalking.

Despite this not being is HO guidance they were totally unwilling to push for it and the attitude of the woman I spoke to stank. Terrible service. I have heard lots of numerous stories from members here and other forums.

I wouldn't go back to a shop that treated me as a customer like that so why should I go back to them ?

There are other organisations out there. You pay your money and make your choice.

Yes its safe, its just the security certificate we have that sometimes causes some search engines baulk at, its then sorts itself out. The server its on to very safe indeed so don't fret

Pitty that when someone asks a genuine question the small minority of typical BASC bashers leap onto it to have yet another go, totally ignoring the opening post and grinding axes that are years old

BASC has moved on, got bigger and better, especially over the last 2-3 years, working harder, delivering more.

So if BASC is not your organisation of choice move on, and then when your organisation is nowhere to be seen when the big issue facing shooting are being worken on by BASC an no one else please come on here and criticize them

Can't say fairer than that David. I for one would not want to be without the representation that BASC provides us all as shooters. In particular I hope I never need to use the BASC insurance or legal advice, but it's good to know that it's there just in case.

We take as we find, which is why I left BASC after many years and joined the NGO; so if we're going stray off topic to BIG UP shooting organisations then I'll put in my pennerth worth for the NGO.

Had a query about pheasant diseases and the next day received a very helpful and courteous call from a lady vet who specialised in game birds, even though our part-time keeper is a member of BASC and not the NGO. He was so impressed he has recently joined the NGO and is allowing his BASC membership to lapse.

Mike Wallace (?) has emailed me on several occasions with professional advice concerning firearms legislation and licensing queries, and bearing in mind it is all run on a voluntary basis (so no big fat cat pensions to subsidise :whistling: ) it is extremely well run and very professional.

Anyone want to big up their relevant organisation while we're at it just for the sake of balance?

I agree, and I'm getting fed up of all the BASC bashers every time someone asks a question about them. If you don't want to support BASC, then so be it, but don't jump on the band wagon and rubbish them. Genuine complaints, if any, about BASC, should be directed to those concerned, and not on here.

BASC has been very helpful to me. They overturned a condition about me being mentored with a .308 for stalking, despite me stalking for 6 years with a .243. And, they are only at the end of a phone if I need advice. I, for one, will continue to support them.
