You are better off with a good quality wash and wax then leather off. If you can keep the motor reasonably clean,then try using just a light solution of wash and wax,no rinsing, then leather. kyska Posted April 30, 2015 Report Share Posted April 30, 2015 I'm an advocate of good washing, claying with detailing spray then a very good quality wax, the car looks like glass, and only needs a quick wash every now and then. I was very scepticle but used it on my caravan when on a site that didn't allow water washing for environmental reasons. Was so impressed I did the car after and thought bet it scratches and I have to have it compounded. But it didn't. I did use more product than recommended though. Got very good results and the wax finish it left lasted. Bought half a dozen more at show the following year. Some clever technology in holding dirt and dust in suspension and a very soft microfiber cloth to lift it away. Suppose it's similar to how a waterborne wax adheres to paint,when wax floats on water and isn't water soluble. daz2202 Posted April 30, 2015 Report Share Posted April 30, 2015 I would highly recommend the Kleers range of products. Not cheap but very good. The polish is not packed with chalk so doesn't leave white crusty marks. The paint cleaner does exactly that, gets rid of tar spots too. Bigbob Posted May 1, 2015 Report Share Posted May 1, 2015 I use greased lightening its no cheap but spray the car rub it in with a micro cloth and rub off with another cloth job done you got to watch the windows as on the body work the water just runs off but on the windscreen it can make the wipers jump A cheapo at work buys the same thing from the pound shop but you can see the diffrence Using greased lightening i do the car weekly in twenty minutes and once a month give it a power wash valet it then polish it which can take up to four hours Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ferguson_tom Posted May 1, 2015 Report Share Posted May 1, 2015 I have used a similar product called Greased Lightning and it is really good stuff. However I would not suggest trying it on you 4x4 after a day green laning. For generally road grime its great and leaves a fantastic finish. Main thing is keeping the microfibre clothes cleanish and being really carefully not to pick up stones etc. I find it works best if you put your car through a cheap car wash first to get the worst of it off then use it after. grantellissheffield Posted May 7, 2015 Report Share Posted May 7, 2015 dodo juice supernatural wax... wash the car once a month with a ph nutural wash. ****ty wash and wax will just strip it off.. i use zymol titanium wax on mine but thats £89 per tub.. i just jet wash with water once a week and microfiber dry... wash it once every 2 months with ph nutral wash and wax every 6 months... come the winter time wax i will put 2 coats on instead of the one.. grantellissheffield Posted May 8, 2015 Report Share Posted May 8, 2015 yeah bud.. i had zymol like i said £89 per tub.. but i like bouncers 22 by dodd juice and the dodo juice supernatural.. if i were you i would do it yourself and save a fortune. detailing aint cheap they will want to clay bar it first then spend ages doing paint correction could be there for ages and cost a fortune.. just get yourself a tub of supernatural and first give the car a good wash, t-cut if needed.. other wise polish and then 2 coats of wax... mine is black so i normal wash car then 2 or 3 coats of black hole glaze to fill in the swirl marks and gives a deeper depth to the paint, then 2 coats of wax.. get a price from them first then work out what its gunna cost for the kit to do yourself, that way you have the stuff and can top up when needed..
