evo
went out sat night and day on the rabbits and had 22 rabbits with 3 shots,, beat my personal best by miles, didn,t enjoy gutting them though but pest control is pest control,, furthest was 55yrds away and the closest 22 yrds away, conditions were perfect with the wind into my face,, only downside was I could of had 1 more but for leaving the bloody safety catch on, ended up with 27 dead rabbits for 8 shots so was very happy, anyone else done this atb Evo Edited May 19, 2015 by evo
colin lad
Get a lot of pregnant does this time of year more often they have 5/6 young in, it seams a high portion of the rabbits you get at night are pregnant, I was told it's a lot to do with them needing to eat more and therefore will out further and for longer to eat, Don't know how true this is but sound's plausible, And as you say its pest control and an affective method too Colin
Zetter
Nice going Evo. As you say gutting out can be a bit grim but as the farmer on one of my permission says for one shot there are 6 rabbits that wont be eating his crop and hes not complaining. winnie&bezza
When you say 22 with 3 shots and 27 for 8 shots, do you mean the latter were misses? Sorry if I sound ignorant but I'm a bit puzzled ha!
Sha Bu Le
Had me puzzled too Evo but when I read your post carefully I twigged on, pregnant does 1 for 5 or 6. Like you say pest control is just that..

secretagentmole
I am told by my permission owners if it looks like a rabbit, walks like a rabbit, eats like a rabbit then kill it. Zero tolerance due to crop and paddock damage!
evo
1 rabbit 8 babies inside = 9 for 1 shot 1 rabbit 6 babies inside = 7 for 1 shot 1 rabbit 5 babies inside = 6 for 1 shot total so far is 22 rabbits for 3 shots then 5 shots for 5 rabbits so total is 27 rabbits for 8 shots,, doubt I could do that with a shotgun either

colin lad
I certainly find if I spook a small group but one stays out it's more often than not a pregnant or milky doe Colin
