Can you get labrador pups all year round?

I agree , if buying a pup I would prefer to have it in the spring / Summer.

It gives you more time with them and gives them time to grow and gain a decent coat if they are being kenneled outside before the worst of the weather

In theory u can, but most people with genuine working dogs would try not to have pups around that time if possible as bitch will be mising some of the shooting season (depending how early u start grouse/partedge or pheasant) but i have seen bitches worked surprisingly soon after having pups

U could argue that back end is the ideal time to get a pup as by time light nites arrive ur pup is 6 months old and u can start doing a bit more than just play training

My young lab was picked up end Jan, int he house in a crate for a while for warmth then into the kennels

Getting a puppy can be advantageous in the autumn because it can give you a period of time where it can be a puppy over the winter and through the spring to start a little training in the summer evenings so that it can go on a lead in the line the following winter. I've always had my dogs in the house and never wanted to kennel them outside due to the amount of dogs that are stolen from kennels. Luckily we have a utility room near the back door so it is easy to give them a warm shower to get the mud off of them and they can dry off in the warm which helps with rheumatism when they get older. I've known dogs to be worn out at about 8>9 years old when they are used heavily and just left outside in a kennel. And we like them to be our pets and companions also. they sure do like a bit of comfort next to the fire or sit down right in front of the fan heater when it is running.

Thanks for the replies, ideally I'd love to get it now (cos I'm impatient) but the timing of his development would work ok as said above having the winter to be a puppy. He wouldn't be kenneled and would be kept in the house. I don't do much, if any, driven game so they would be mainly lamping or keeping me company while Pigeon shooting and potentially deer tracking so quite an easy life really. Was just worried I'd get to November and there would be nothing about
