mellors Posted May 24, 2015 Report Share Posted May 24, 2015 Only use it for pigeon etc. Have been away for a week twice in the last 3 months both times on return the battery has gone flat. Before replacing it wondered if this normal with drain from alarm system etc. The battery is the original as I have had vehicle from new obviously not a problem replacing battery but don't want to do it if it something else. Hector Vector Posted May 24, 2015 Report Share Posted May 24, 2015 I don't think the alarm,etc would be sufficient to pull a good battery right down. I recently left my Disco for 10 days and it started instantly when I next used it. It also had the dash camera running for a lot of the time it was laid-up. Have you fitted any other electrical accessories? Perhaps it's time for new battery? If it's the original then it's got to be getting on for 11 years old at least... Over time they lose their ability to maintain a full charge, especially if they've been drained totally flat then recharged at some point in its life (you mention this has happened at least twice). My D2 starts on the button after a week of non-use (replacement battery) so I'd put money on your battery simply reaching the end of its life. HAYBURN Posted May 24, 2015 Report Share Posted May 24, 2015 Yes it may require a new battery, a new battery can also cover an underlying fault. which will return months on and you end up with a flat battery at the worst time (in the field) Vehicle should be checked for voltage brain an the battery is getting a proper charge from alternator.
