After filling the FAC slots I fancy another air rifle I have narrowed the choice down to the following 1) Air Arms ultimate sporter 2) BSA Gold star 3) FX Royal (if my RFD can do me a deal) Any thoughts from the PW massive? The only thing I will steer clear of which is a shame is the new Daystate Huntsman Regal. God knows how they managed to take a steady reliable gun and build unreliability into it is a mystery. If the Huntsman isn't there went I go for some cartridges tomorrow I am tempted by the new gold star my only reservation is its regulated and BSA don't have the best track record with regulators..... secretagentmole Posted May 25, 2015 Report Share Posted May 25, 2015 I would not recommend the BSA and I am an owner of a BSA. Modern BSA rifles are all Friday jobs. More problems than a little. As for the blueing-my MK3 barrel was not blued at all-it was hidden under a shroud and just as well-I cannot remember ever having seen such poor quality turning-and this was a barrel that your Father described as "one of the best they had ever had from Walther". You do get what you pay for but on the other hand my S410 is 7 years old and looks like new cos I wipe her over if she gets damp-even a Boss will deteriorate if you don't maintain it. If you continue to pick on AA guns evo,you will be off my Christmas card list AND I will tell your dad. evo Posted May 26, 2015 Report Share Posted May 26, 2015 Bruno, you know me mate,,honest as they come,, I think airarms are excellent rifles , I owned the AAs410 and it was faultless and accurate , I also think the s200 is one of the most underestimated rifles out there, but my father(sperm donor Mr Belas) gave me a huntsman classic to try and I was that impressed I bought the company ,,,wonder where I,ve heard that before, wether they are built there or not, Daystate rifles are a far superior quality to Airarms, well the ones I have owned and used have been, I must add though just because you had your problem with a mk3 does not mean ALL daystates are the same, there are problems with all makes of rifles BUT with my daystates they are accurate and faultless, would I own another air arms ? yes I would but it would only be a top of the range FTP900 and lets be honest they have had their faults also,, I would have a huntsman classic over any airarms that's for sure and that includes the ftp900 all the best to you sir Evo Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So on an impulse buy the deposit is down waiting for the cheque from work . It will look nice next to my Merlyn FAC! Thanks for the advice guys it kind of pushed me in the direction I wanted to go and saved me about £300 in the process . I dont know how Daystate did it they took a bomb proof gun that had a reliability rating on par with the AA410 and HW100 and converted it to a gun that has a reputation of the R10 MK1???
