Why is gun purchasing addictive

I have never been one for buying things I don't need, be it cars, clothes, tools etc. But, guns and all the gear, seems to be wholly addictive. Does anybody else feel that they need every type, in every gauge or is it just me?

I spend more time browsing guns than anything else.

I will hasten to add that I do not have every type of gun. But I reckon by year end I'll have the four main types of shotgun.

I don't with guns, but I do with decoying gear the amount of decoys I've had and rotaries is ridiculous. When I pack in shooting in the not to distant future I'll save a fortune.

Oh and the for sale section on this forums not helping lol

Its a disease with no known cure. I started off with just a simple o/u then I got a semi then moved on to the hard stuff a sxs now I look longingly at pumps and even hammers, I've got it bad. What about a front stuffer? Help.

This disease is easily caught in Kettering ..... the strain emanating from this area of the UK has NO KNOWN CURE so be warned  you know when you've been 'boshed :innocent:

I'm sorry to say but there is no known cure to man.

Women don't seem to be inflicted with this quite frankly terrible debilitating disease.

I for one caught it back in the late 70's and despite several wife induced therapy sessions we are now at 19- I know

It's a problem isn't it. I have a friend and he's had his ticket years and has one gun, he's had others but always ends up going back to that one and doesn't seem to have any interest in any others now. The thought "beware of the man with one gun" comes to mind but he's a distinctly average shot.

Prey tell do you mean

1. Over and Under

2. Side by side

3. Semi Auto

4. Pump

?

There are several variations of theme. Not least the bores.

.303 Lee Enfield drilled out to .410 smooth bore bolt action. Now fetching silly money.

And, yes, I want one!

CLUB. AAddicted. I love the look, the feel, the smell. Especially fired paper cartridges. Feo told me that I had too many. BUT I don’t smoke or drink or gamble AND I haven’t been anywhere near Kettering. Hang on I feel the pull like a big magnet has been switched on leading into a black hole like a circle in a spiral like a wheel within a wheel.

I must confess to only owning two shotguns in 12g and 410. One Daystate in 177 one Gamo magnumm springer in 22 and crossman CO2 pistol. So probably not totally addicted.

Got lots of clothes and accessories as well. :)

Although the idea of a old hammer gun has some appeal.

How many on here, when looking for another gun has been asked by the wife " why do you need another gun, you've got 'x' already", but when she wants yet another pair of shoes, dress, coat or whatever to add to her already extensive wardrobe, a similar question is met with much abuse. There seems to be double standards here, or am I just being chauvinistic ?

I think that following on from my previous post, that many are secretive about their purchases or at least the cost of them, I know I am, and according to many gunshops that I have visited, I'm certainly not in the minority.

Maybe others have more understanding partners.
